-Stop renting your electricity and start owning it. With rising electric costs nationwide, more homeowners are making the switch to Solar. Everyone can drastically reduce or even completely eliminate their electric bill by going solar , all while paying no upfront costs to get started. Most homeowners save between 30-40% over the life of their system compared to traditional utilities.
The Inflation Reduction Act was passed in 2022, extending the tax credit and increasing it from 26 to 30% through 2032. This, combined with local and state incentives make switching to solar more affordable than ever.
Electricity costs have risen over 30% in the past 10 years and continue to do so in a volatile way – making it difficult to budget this line item year over year. With solar, you can accurately forecast the cost of your energy use for more than 25 years. Predictable energy rates mean a more predictable budget.
Multiple studies by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), a research laboratory funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, have shown that solar can improve the value of your home. LBNL’s 2015 Selling Into the Sunreport analyzed sales of solar photovoltaic (PV) homes in eight different states over 11 years, with the goal of determining just how much value solar can add to your home. The finding: on average, homebuyers are “consistently willing to pay PV home premiums” of approximately $4 per watt of installed solar capacity. For a 6-kilowatt (kW) solar PV system, that means solar can add $24,000 to home resale value!
Another study, this time from Zillow in 2019, comes to the same conclusion – homes with solar panels sell for 4.1% more. The Zillow study notes that the percentage increase in home value changes by geography.
At the end of the day, solar is one of the best investments you can make. The average American solar purchaser sees a return on their investment (ROI) of 14 percent or more, with most solar panel systems paying for themselves multiple times over the course of their decades-long lifetime. Try getting that ROI from stocks!
With our wide selection of panels , inverters, smart controllers, and battery storage units, you are in control of your own energy independence. With our wide selection of solar battery back up options you will never be “left in the dark” again.

Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.
There is no easy answer to this since every system can vary. Each system Sunkey provides is custom-designed to offset the electric costs of each home.Factors such as square footage, how efficient the home is, the number of occupants, energy usage and roof layout and direction all play a vital role in pricing a custom system. Our energy specialist will be able to provide you with a more accurate figure once we have a little information.
Most solar systems are designed to cover the cost of an energy bill, though this too can vary. The average range of savings over the life span of a system is $40,000-$60,000.
Our Tier 1 panels are very durable and designed to sustain 1 1/2 inch hail falling at approximately 60 miles per hour. The solar electric panels themselves are warranted for 25 years but have a longer life expectancy of nearly double that. There are solar electric systems that were installed in the 1970's that are still functioning today at over 70% effeciency! We've also got you covered with our state of the art 30 year warranty.
Most Tier 1 systems weigh less than 4 pounds per square foot, which is comparable to the weight of a layer of asphalt shingles. Almost all roof structures , regardless of roofing material can accommodate the additional weight of a solar array.
All of our systems come with a 25 year fully transferable warranty. Many systems will last 40-50 + years with proper care and maintenance.
For solar electric systems installed on a home or business that is connected to the grid (i.e. “grid-tied”), net metering allows you to have only one electric meter which can spin forward or backward at the same rate. When the sun is shining, your solar system is producing electricity that can be directly used by your home or business, thereby offsetting the amount of electricity being purchased from the utility company. When your PV system is producing more energy than the home needs, then the electricity is actually “sold” back to the utility company, causing your electric meter to spin backwards to give you retail credit. Your electric meter may spin backwards and forwards on a daily basis, but you’ll only be billed according to the “net” reading on your meter at the end of each month.
In this way, net metering allows you to take advantage of, and get retail credit for, every unit of electricity that your solar electric system produces. If you produce more power than you use each month, the credits will carry over for later use for up to 12 months. If you still have a credit leftover at the end of the year, the utility may pay you for the excess power you produced, or you may elect to carry credits forward indefinitely for future usage. Net metering varies from state to state. Make sure to get with your energy specialist to review your particular states net metering program incentives.
The process before installation can take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks, and can include several steps such as HOA approval, permitting, inspections, and utility approval. The installation itself can be completed in as little as a few hours with large installations taking up to a few days. Most installations take less than a day.
